Abstract
Proper names are commonly disregarded in translation but very frequent in specialised texts. Their use can be modified according to fast-changing social connotations, making them very hard to automatise. Politicians and experts continuously employ and create naming variants which must be understood by citizens and machines, and also harmonised by linguists. Taking advantage of multilingual parliamentary discourse, the main objective of NAIMES (Naming Artificial Intelligence Metric Evaluation System) is to evaluate and compare how ChatGPT translates proper names from three European source languages (English, German, and Czech) into Spanish. NAIMES wants to go beyond the state of art of AI translation and assessment by providing new tailor-made evaluation modes for AI, more non-English-centric language directions, and a better diagnosis of low-resource translation.
